Access informationAccess on campus.
DescriptionBusiness Insights has been relaunced as Datamonitor 360 and now incorporates Marketline. The service continues to work in association with leading industry experts, to produce a range of reports providing incisive market analysis in various industry sectors covering topical issues and key market drivers. Examples of companies include Reuters Health, IMS Healthcare, TNS and ComputerWire IT Industry intelligence.

Datastream Advance

Description:Historical share price and other market, economic and accounting data for listed companies and macroeconomic data. Datasets from developed and emerging markets with coverage most complete for the UK.

Econlit

Access information:Access on and off campus.
Description:The database version of Journal of Economic Literature and Index of Economic Articles indexing international literature in the field of economics. Abstracts are included.
Coverage:From 1969 to date.

Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS)

Users are required to register with ESDS to use this service.

Access information:Available on and off-campus from ESDS. Choose Login via UK federation. Also requires separate registration with ESDS.
Description:ESDS provides access and support for extensive range of key economic and social data, both quantitative and qualitative, including: ESDS Government, ESDS International, ESDS Longitudinal and ESDS Qualidata. Guides are available.

The Economist

Access information:Available from Business Source Premier: click on publications tab and search for ‘Economist’ and select to add to search. Also available via Factiva: click on ‘Source’ and select Economist from A-Z list.
Description:Full text of the weekly publication which covers international politics and business news and opinion.
Coverage:Business Source Premier: Bibliographic Records: 30th June 1990 to present; Full Text: 7th July 1990 to present.
Factiva: Full text from 4th January 1981 to present.

FAME

Access information:Access on and off-campus. Off-campus access - choose University of Edinburgh from list then click Select button.
Description:Detailed financial information of all UK and Irish companies updated monthly with up to 10 years of data.
FAME allows you to search by any combination of over 300 criteria including: geographic location, SIC code or activity description, number of employees, statement items, ratios, credit score/rating, legal form, year of incorporation, holding company/subsidiary.
Company comparisons can be achieved using the Peer Analysis option whilst the Statistical Analysis option allows you to produce market sector reports.

Description:Annual reports and company accounts; stock exchange and banking analysis; current and historical global information.

IBSS (International Bibliography of Social Science) Online

Access information:Access on and off campus.
Description:Produced by the British Library of Political and Economic Science. One of the largest and most comprehensive social sciences databases in the world, indexing 2600 journals and 6000 books per annum, in the core disciplines of economics, sociology, politics and anthropology.
Coverage:From 1951 to date.

JSTOR

Access information:Access on and off-campus.
Description:Full-text journal archive service providing access to complete back runs of all the scholarly journals currently available in JSTOR. Recent volumes are excluded, usually the last 3-5 years, but each year a further year is added to the archive.
Each title is listed in the Library catalogue.
The collections currently available are: Arts & Sciences 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8; Biological Sciences; Health & General Sciences; Ireland. The 19th Century British Pamphlets Collections is also available via JSTOR.

The New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics

Access information:Access on and off campus.
Description:The online edition of The New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics contains the full text of the 8 volume print edition, the 2008 second edition of which the Library also stocks. The online Dictionary is a dynamic resource for economists containing hyperlinked cross-references within articles, and it features carefully selected and maintained links to related sites, as well as incorporating quarterly additions and updates. The New Palgrave Dictionary of Economics Online offers search and browse facilities, both full text and advanced.

OECD iLibrary

Access information:Access on-campus. Access off-campus currently via VPN only.
Description: The iLibrary provides access to a substantial amount of free content, including the OECD Factbook, OECD Working Papers, Key Tables, Multilingual Summaries and most 'At a Glance' publications.
Subscription data resources include 40 time series titles covering energy, banking, health, education, trade, investment and insurance, patents and productivity, regional statistics, science and technology, tax, telecommunications and internet.

Osiris

Access information:Access on and off campus.
Description:Provides financial information on 55,000 listed and major unlisted/delisted companies worldwide (43,000 are non-US companies). The information includes: standardised and "as reported" financials (including restated reports), SEC filings, detailed earnings estimates including recommendations, ownership, stock data, news and ratings.

Social Sciences Citation Index

Description:Provided by Web of Knowledge. Indexes 2,100 core journals in all areas of the social sciences, plus relevant items from 3,500 scientific and technical journals. Contains over 2.3 million reference, over half with abstracts.
