This page covers some important information for tutors and administrators, as well as further information on accessiblity.
PebblePad's Turnitin integration feature will not be available as part of the initial upgrade. Changes on the part of the Turnitin supplier mean that it has been delayed. Pebble Learning, who develop PebblePad, are working hard behind the scenes to fix this and are confident that this feature will be available in the last quarter of the year.
Workspaces replace Gateways in PebblePad3 as the institutional area in which tutors can interact with students and manage course assessment and feedback activities. If your school has an assigned Region administrator then they will be able to set up Workspaces for you. Otherwise please contact Learning Services through firstname.lastname@example.org to have a Workspace set up.
If you managed Gateways in PebblePad 'Classic' you will find that you no longer have access to these immediately after the upgrade to Pebblepad3. However we will retain access to all existing Gateways until 2015 enabling access to student work from previous years for backup purposes. There are two ways to access your Gateways:
Many assets types in Pebble+ can be exported as PDF by selecting the Print option from the Do More button at the top left of the asset's toolbar. Please note, not all asset types will generate a PDF - in particular uploaded files will not generate a PDF of the file's content.
From the 8th July Moodle will include an LTI link to both Pebble+ and ATLAS. In fact, from the end of July this connectivity will also be available in Learn. For more information on how to use these new features contact Learning Services through email@example.com.
The Pebble+ area of PebblePad3 has a non-Flash, accessible version. This link is available in the PebblePad3 MyEd channel. Some features are currently missing in this version and are scheduled to be introduced between September 2013 and January 2014. Listed below are the missing features and suggestions for alternative workflows.
If this is a personal reflection, or piece of work, you could create an alternative as an MS Office document (MS Word, or similar) and upload to Pebble+.
If you are a tutor and would like to share a template with a class, again you could create an alternative using an MS Office file format and share the file via your workspace (or from within Pebble+).
Alternatively you might consider using other tools, like wikis, journals and blogs, in one of our VLEs (Learn or Moodle). The university wiki service may also be an option worth considering.
Template and workbook builder are primarily tutor tools (although they are available for all users). As an alternative to building this asset in PebblePad you could create a template in an MS Office format and then upload and share via PebblePad. Again, it may also be possible to achieve similar results using an alternative tool in one of our VLEs, or the university wiki service.
These features currently have no alternative in the accessible version. If you require support using one of these features, or further advice using any of the other missing features, please contact Learning Services through:
