Online help and support resources for Official Visitors to the University.
A visitor is anyone who is working or studying on University premises but who is not registered either by HR on Main Payroll, or by Registry on the student systems.
This does not only include people who are in fact ‘visiting’, but also any affiliated members of the University such as honorary staff members, non-matriculating students etc.
Anybody wanting to use central IT services at the University -- such as electronic mail, the computing labs and wireless networks -- must have an 'account' consisting of a University User Name (UUN) and a password.
For more details of services that registered visitors can use, see the IS Service Eligibility Policy.
Official visitors need to be registered in the Visitor Registration Service (VRS) by the Administrator or Computing Officer of the School or College they are visiting.
To view a list of staff who are authorised users of the Visitor Registration Service (VRS), see the document below.
If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it yourself using the personal questions and secret answers you created when you registered. You can do this by clicking the "Forgotten password" link on the EASE homepage and following the on-screen instructions. A direct link to the password reset page is given below:
If you have forgotten or are unable to answer your secret questions correctly, you will need to re-register with EASE, using a new registration key. Please look up the appropriate staff contact for your department in the contact list below. If your department is not listed, please contact the IS Helpline for assistance.
If you are based in Edinburgh, you can visit an IS Helpdesk with photographic ID for a new registration key. IS Helpdesks are located in the Main Library, George Square, and the Darwin Library, King's Buildings.
Follow the link below for information on accessing wireless and VPN services provided by the University.
If you have an enquiry regarding central IT or library services, please initially review the online help for staff. If you could not find the answer to your question, you can contact a local helpline or the central IS Helpline. Please give your University username and details of the problem you are experiencing.
