eduroam

The JANET Roaming Service (eduroam) enables you to visit another participating institution and gain access to the Internet without having to register for another username and password.

As a guest you will normally be given access to the Internet only, and will not have access to that institution's local facilities such as applications, printing, etc. The level of access will vary between institutions.

Prerequisites

Before you go

Before you visit another institution, make sure you configure your device to work with the eduroam wireless network within the University.

If your device can successfully connect to eduroam within the University you should not need to make any changes to use your device at any other institution which supports eduroam.

Follow the instructions below to configure eduroam on your device:

Generic settings

There are many other wireless devices which are capable of connecting to the eduroam wireless network, and we cannot provide detailed instructions for every available device.

If we do not provide specific instructions for your wireless device, the generic settings provided will enable configuration of a suitable wireless device to connect to eduroam.

When you get there

When configured correctly your wireless device should work at any institution which supports the eduroam service. You should also:
