iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch
The Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch have a built-in cisco VPN client.
Please note, the original Apple iPhone 1.0 cannot connect to the University VPN service.
Configuration instructions
- Touch "Settings" on the main menu.
- Touch "General", then "Network".
- Scroll down and the touch "VPN".
- Touch "Add VPN Configuration..."
This will display a form where you can enter the following configuration details:
- Touch "IPSec" - this is the Cisco client.
- Description: enter a name for this configuration, e.g. eduni-vpn
- Server: "vpn2.net.ed.ac.uk"
- Account: enter your UUN.
- Password: "ask every time"
- Certificate: "Off"
- Enter your Group authentication name and secret (password).
NB: Your Group authentication name and password are NOT the same as the username and the password you set when you registered for the VPN service.
You can find out your Group authentication name and password by visiting:
- Proxy: "Off"
- Now touch "Save".
Using the VPN service
To connect to the VPN service touch the "VPN On" field. To disconnect from the VPN Service touch the "Off" field.
