If you do a manual Site License installation of SPSS, you will need a current authorization code to activate it.
Every year after that in September you will need to enter a new code authorize the software for the next academic year.
For SPSS installed through a managed desktop package, the license should update automatically via the license server and you need take no action. Also Network Installation will connect to a license server directly, so you won't need annual codes.
We distribute codes to whoever pays for the license, so contact whoever paid for your license in the first place.
Staff and students in HSS and MVM colleges have already been paid for, so use the following link to request the latest code from Software Services.
Never email authorization codes or license codes to the main Software Services email address, IS help services or to unidesk but rather always use the specific IS.software.codes address.
Either during the installation or at the annual renewal time you need to add the latest license code using SPSS Licence Authorization Wizard.

There are three different sorts of code referred to by SPSS:
Authorization Codes are about 20 characters long and look like: 4a581exxxxxxd5869609. They should not be confused with License Codes
License Codes are much longer, about 92 characters and look like: YJWIPNMC6CR4NMAKZKB2CTCFSJC38GHHKSXXXXXXXFMA6TJMYJIEK7KS7DFVPQNEFMO5YB269PNSWSTZJDXE27TFOJ8BK.
Lock Codes are unique to your computer and are used to generate the long license codes. Lock Codes look like 4-22222 or 10-22222
