If you wish to enable full disk encryption on a Mac OS X laptop we recommend you use the FileVault encryption service that comes as part of the operating system. To enable this please follow these instructions.
Please ensure that you have all important data backed up before running this process. You may also wish to backup any personal data (such as photographs) as FileVault performs a full disk encryption.
Recommended for users with Mac OSX, as it provides Full Disk Encryption and is built into the OS.
An Encrypted Disk Image is a virtual disk that you can use to store sensitive data. The disk image will appear and behave as any another disk on your system.
