Using the Network Time Service

To use the network time service you need to configure your computer time settings to use the Network Time Protocol to talk to the University's time servers.

The University time service is available on IP address 129.215.205.191.

On a Unix system you can synchronize your system clock using the ntpdate command:

/usr/sbin/ntpdate 129.215.205.191

The command needs to be run as root and can be run hourly from cron to keep your system clock synchronized.

Windows and Mac clients may also use the service by configuring the IP address of the server in the date & time system preference.
