What is MyEd?
MyEd is the University of Edinburgh's web portal.
A portal is very broadly a gateway, and that is what MyEd aims to be - your gateway to web based services within and beyond the University.
MyEd differs from a simple web page of links however, because it uses a combination of security, personalisation and customisation to offer more flexibility and integration.
MyEd aims not just to present you with access to the services you already use from one central location, but to go a step further and help you discover other services that are either new, or that you just didn't realise were available.
In addition, whilst some services and resources are just simply linked to MyEd, other services interact dynamically; for example displaying your current Library loan status, or how many new emails are waiting in your email Inbox.
Using the EASE authentication system to log in provides not just security but also transparent login onwards into other EASE services.
Non EASE-authenticated services like WebCT and WISARD are also linked in to MyEd and again a transparent login is available.
