Other folder actions in webmail

These other folder actions can be performed on folders using webmail.

Click on Folders to open the folder management screen to access these functions. Some of them are also available by right-clicking on a folder name in the left-hand menu if you are using the dynamic webmail.

Check folder(s) for new mail (and not checking)

If you automatically filter your mail into mail folders then you may have unread messages in many folders. You can change the folder list to show the number of messages in each selected mail folder by getting the system to check for new mail in these selected folders. Any folders that are selected to check for mail will also be used to construct your Virtual Inbox if you have that option set to be displayed.

Mark all Messages in Folder as...

If you want to change the status of all messages in a folder to make them appear to have been read, or to make them all appear to have been unread, then use these options.

Download Folder(s)... and Import Messages

You can download all messages in the selected mailboxes to your own computer. The mail messages from each selected mailbox will be downloaded as a single mailbox file to your computer and you can then write that off to CD, transfer it to archive, or import them into another mail system (the mailbox format used is generally referred to as MBOX format or Berkeley format and is a very common mailbox format understood by the vast majority of email programs).

If you prefer to have your mailboxes compressed and bundled up as a ZIP file, then choose the download as zip option.

You can reimport messages previously saved this way by using the Import Messages option/

Empty/Purge Folder(s)

The Empty Folder(s) option allows you to permanently delete all messages in the selected folders in a single operation. Use this option with care, as your messages will be immediately deleted and cannot be recovered.

The Purge Folder(s) option allows you to compact the selected folders and permanently delete any messages in them that have been marked as deleted. It does not remove any other messages. Use this option to clear up deleted messages. You can also carry out this same function when viewing a mailbox folder listing.

Rebuild Folder Tree

This option will refresh the folder lists and is useful after changing your subscription options.
