ILL services can be provided for registered Library borrowers who are not members of the University and for external institutions

Important Service Update
University of Edinburgh ILL services are currently restricted to University of Edinburgh students and staff. It is not currently possible to place ILLs using memberships under any other category
ILL requests are only made for registered borrowers of Edinburgh University Library. Please note, if you are a registered borrower, but not a member of the University, you will be charged the full ILL rate of £18.00 per request. This arrangement also includes ILL services for Alumni who are registered borrowers.
If you are a student from another higher education institution, or from a further education institution, please ask library staff at your home institution about the ILL services available to you.
Institutions within the United Kingdom and Republic Of Ireland
Edinburgh University Library can accept Interlibrary Loan requests from other institutions.
Copy requests must comply with current copyright regulations, and be of a non-commercial nature. If a copy is required for commercial use, please apply directly to the British Library.
The fees for such requests are in line with current British Library charges, and will be claimed through the British Library at regular intervals.
Send your request, quoting your British Library account number and request number, to the appropriate library site.
Institutions outside the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland
University of Edinburgh Library can accept requests from overseas institutions, using the following payment methods:
- IFM (e.g. through OCLC WorldShare ILL)
- IFLA vouchers
