Backup
Information Services provides file backup services to ensure security of the data on our systems.
Files are normally backed up nightly to secure tape or disk storage. All IS provided services use these backup services and backups can also be provided for school's servers. If you would like a quote for backing up your service please follow the links below to the most appropriate service.
The backup service choice
We provide three backup services depending on the nature of the systems to be backed up. They are as follows:
SAN backup for research data
Research groups using the Edinburgh Compute and Data Facility may request backups using the research SAN backup service.
Virtual servers on the Virtual Hosting platform
Virtual machines running on the virtual hosting platform may be backed up using a product called Veeam.
