September 2009 - September 2012, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council with the Scottish Funding Council.
The aim of AQMeN (Applied Quantitative Methods Network) is to bring together existing methodological expertise and boost capacity in quantitative methods through a programme of training, knowledge exchange and continuing professional development, to enhance the skills of a range of social scientists who have an interest in developing, enhancing or refreshing their quantitative skills.
The Network is run by academics from eight Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Scotland, but aims to target researchers in all Scottish HEIs. The Director of AQMeN is Susan McVie, School of Law, University of Edinburgh, who also was Principal Investigator of the report that recommended the formation of AQMeN: ESRC/SFC Scoping Study into Quantitative Methods Capacity Building in Scotland (May, 2008). Data Librarian Robin Rice was a co-author of the report.
The Data Library has designed and developed a website in collaboration with AQMeN staff based on Drupal, an open source content management system to serve the needs both of the AQMeN staff and the 300+ members of the network. Support is ongoing throughout the project’s lifetime.
