The new eStores system has been launched at the Human Genetics Unit (HGU), bringing the benefits of online ordering to laboratory and Stores staff.

Developed by IS Applications Division in close collaboration with Finance and Stores/Laboratory staff from across the University, the new eStores system provides staff with online ordering of standard stock items from the local Stores.
Users can browse the Stores product catalogue online, keeping track of their spend in a virtual shopping basket. Real-time updates keep stock levels and product details up-to-date, whilst integral validation throughout the process ensures that orders are processed smoothly.
Stores staff can process orders electronically, monitor stock usage and produce a variety reports to assist in the management of the Stores.
The system is fully integrated with the Stock Module on the eFinancials system, removing the need for time-consuming manual file transfers.
Although developed initially for use at HGU Stores, representatives from other University Stores have been consulted during the design to ensure that they can also benefit from its use.
