Fines donation day raises £458

On World Book Day on 1st March we held a fines donation day in our libraries. Users paying fines were asked if they would like the money to be donated to Book Aid International.

We are delighted to announce that £458 was raised which will go towards providing books and library services for people who currently have little access to either.

Book Aid International

Book Aid Internaional have sent the following message of thanks for all of the fine-payers who contributed:

A big thank you from Book Aid International to everyone who donated their library fines to us on World Book Day! Together you raised a staggering £458!

By supporting Book Aid International, you are helping us to send around half a million brand new books every year to some of the poorest and most disadvantaged communities in the world. Each book we send is read by at least five people - meaning that literally millions of people benefit from the books and the library services which you are helping us to provide.

The amount you raised - a staggering £458 - far surpassed our wildest dreams, and is a wonderful boost to our fundraising efforts. The generosity of all your fine-payers will make a real and lasting difference to many people.
