Study Abroad introduction

The Study Abroad programme allows international and a limited number of EU undergraduates to study in Edinburgh.

Each year around 1,250 international and European students spend a semester or a full academic year of their undergraduate degree studying in the College of Humanities and Social Science at the University of Edinburgh.

Over half of these students are admitted via our 'Study Abroad' programme. Students can apply either independently, through a Study Abroad provider such as IFSA Butler or through one of our partner institutions, such as

The Visiting Student Office is part of the College Undergraduate Admissions Office. We will handle your application and provide support and guidance whilst you are studying here in Edinburgh.

When can I study at Edinburgh and what will it cost?

International (non-EU students)

You can study at Edinburgh for the full academic year or either the autumn (fall) or spring semester.

EU students
