Academic life

We want you to have the best experience you can while you’re studying with us. If things aren’t going to plan, we’re here to help and support you. If you’re not sure who to ask for advice, the aptly-named Advice Place is an excellent place to start.

Director of Studies

Your Director of Studies is often a good first point of call, particularly if you are experiencing a problem that might affect your studies. It’s important to let your DoS know as early as possible of any problems so that they can do all they can to help you.

Council Tax

If you’re living in University accommodation you’re automatically exempt from paying Council Tax. If you’re in private accommodation you will need to provide proof to the City of Edinburgh Council that you are studying with us on a full-time basis. You can apply for an exemption certificate from the University:
