Freshers' Week is the week before classes start where you get the opportunity to introduce yourself to life as a student at the University.

This is when you officially enrol at the University and can attend information sessions, orientation events and a range of activities organised by Edinburgh University Students' Association (EUSA), designed to help you settle in and gain access to services.

When is Freshers' Week?

Freshers' Week 2011 runs from Saturday 10th to Sunday 18th September. Official University orientation events take place from Monday 12th to Friday 16th September.

How do I find out what's going on in Freshers' Week?

Your joining pack contains information about Freshers' Week events and University orientation events. Further information about Freshers' Week is available from Edinburgh University Students' Association's website.

Are there any special events for new international students?

Yes, there will be a number of events specifically aimed at new international students - these are listed in the Freshers' Week timetable and on the International Office's website.

When and where is my Introductory Meeting?

All schools will hold introductory meetings where you will find out who your Director of Studies is and other important information, including things you will need to do during Freshers' Week.

Which school is my degree programme allocated to?

You can check which school you belong to using the following document. Students enrolled on the BA Humanities and Social Science belong to the school of their principal lead subject.

How and when do I register?

How do I pay my fees?

If you are required to pay tuition fees, you can do this when you register. Further information is found in the Registry booklet supplied in your joining pack, 'How to matriculate and pay your tuition fees', or you can find information on the University's website.

When do I receive my student ID card?

Information on how to apply for your student ID card and where and when to collect it is available from the Card Services Unit.

I have lost my Formal Letter of Acceptance - what should I do?

Please go to the College Undergraduate Admissions Office (2nd floor, David Hume Tower, George Square) on arrival with proof of identity and we will issue a replacement.

How do I find out what accommodation I have been allocated?

If you have applied for university provided accommodation, the University's Accommodation Services should have emailed you direct. Please contact them directly with any enquiries on (+44) (0)131 667 1971 or by emailing accom.allocations@ed.ac.uk.
