Evidencing the right to work in the UK
The University has procedures on how to make a verified copy of documents which prove an individual's right to work in the UK.
When an external examiner presents the relevant document, the School should take a verified copy of it. When copying and verifying the documents please follow the guidance:
In particular, please note that the following parts of an individual's passport must be photocopied:
- outside front cover (note: passports for nationals from some countries have the "front cover" on the back)
- all pages containing individual's personal details e.g. photograph, signature, date of birth, etc
- all pages containing UK Government stamps or endorsements which allow the individual to do the type of work being offered
If the individual is a citizen of an A2 country (i.e. Bulgaria or Romania) a copy of the authorisation card/certificate should be included. All other documents should be copied in their entirety.
The School should send the verified copy to the College Postgraduate Office. The School should also retain a copy of this documentation for future reference.
