Edinburgh Sustainability Awards
You and your colleagues are invited to sign up for The Edinburgh Sustainability Awards 2011 - an opportunity for staff and students to earn Bronze, Silver, or even Gold level recognition for your department’s actions related to Social Responsibility and Sustainability*.
Run by EUSA and supported by the University and Transition Edinburgh University the Awards offer Schools, Institutes, Centres or Admin Units opportunities to record achievements in an online workbook*.
The Awards workbook sets out achievement criteria under six Edinburgh themes:
- Social Responsibility and Sustainability
- Personal Welfare & Well-being
- Sustainable Procurement & Fair Trade
- Waste & Resource Management
- Local Energy Actions
- Sustainable Travel Choices.

The Awards provide an opportunity to develop personally and professionally by improving your skills and knowledge in a key priority area for the University.
- Play a role in how the University contributes to global well-being
- Earn recognition for your department and compete for the top prize
- Help reduce the University’s net impact on the environment.
Following submissions at the end of March, trained volunteer staff and student auditors will visit and review your completed workbook. They will provide additional feedback and advice.
Teams will be invited at an Awards Ceremony hosted by EUSA in May. The concept echoes EUSA's Teaching Awards and maps UoE initiatives onto a wider Green Impact Awards scheme being run in 35 UK Universities this year.
