This is an online degree. The community is online and we provide a suite of communication tools (such as blogs, email and discussion forums) to support the community of students.
The programme requires students to have an electronic research diary which documents their learning and reflections on material
As this is a distance learning course, we provide many of the resources you need online, including readings, videos, instructional materials, and tools. The University of Edinburgh has one the most extensive lists of online subscriptions to journals, databases, and historical materials of any institution in the UK. In addition, the programme developers have used the expertise of curators in the national museums and libraries in Scotland. The online courses are specifically designed for MSc students, and have their own feel or character. You will also be expected to explore your local resources and to use these to develop your assignments.
The course developers have been funded by UK research councils to develop electronic resources in the Visualising Urban Geographies project. These resources are available for students to use.
Students are encouraged to interact with each other using online discussion tools. These tools allow them to interact with any postgraduate student in the School (both on and off campus).
