Overview
Every day our news bulletins contain reports that are concerned with the environment and the landscapes we inhabit. This Masters course provides a historical perspective to contemporary environmental issues.

The MSc programme:
- explores the history, archaeology and ecology of landscapes, using Scottish examples set in national and international contexts
- illuminates how space and resources have changed over time, and does so in both rural and urban settings
- develops your independent study and research skills.
This 2 year part-time course is delivered electronically. It is specifically designed to enable you to accumulate credits because we realise that there are other pressing demands on your time and you need to fit study and research around these. The latest digital learning technologies are used to deliver programme materials developed by contributors who are:
- distinguished historians working in conjunction with expert curators from the National Museums of Scotland, the National Library of Scotland, and the Royal Commission on Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland
- archaeologists, ecologists, cartographers, conservators and architects.
Student interaction will be encouraged through electronic discussion boards, e-mail, and blogs.
