Students in the School are eligible for Doctoral scholarships from a variety of external and internal sources, including the funding councils (AHRC, ESRC), the College of Humanities and Social Science, and the School itself. Below, you can find a list of links to many of the main sources of funding. However, remember that this is not a complete list, and that there may be many other specialized sources of awards listed on the University’s Scholarships page (link below) or indeed unknown to us.
The deadline for most scholarships is 1 February.
We strongly advise those seeking support to apply for all possible funding for their project. If you do not apply for an award, you cannot win it. You should read the important guidance on applications below, which includes a checklist of internal funding for different subjects.
On-programme PhD students can apply for McMillan awards to help fund their study.
