Biography

I grew up in Manchester and graduated with a B.A. in American Studies from Lancaster University before crossing the Atlantic to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where I completed an M.A. (2001) and Ph.D. (2006) in History. I have been Lecturer in American History at the University of Edinburgh since 2007, and spent academic year 2009-10 in the United States on a Leverhulme Research Fellowship, researching at archives in Washington, North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky.
