ESRC Body in Crisis event

Economic & Social Research Council (ERSC) 'Body in Crisis' event, 9 November 2012

Increasing numbers of patients survive a critical illness. The body is the medium though which we experience health and illness. This event is aimed at exploring the theme of the ‘body in crisis’ and thus the experience of surviving critical illness. The steady increase in survivors of critical illness makes studies of exposure to the experience of highly invasive medical interventions relevant to this widening group.

The event will take the form of a half-day interactive seminar in which we will explore:

  1. How survivors of critical illness experience critical illness with, through and via their bodies
  2. The implications for health and social science research and care delivery

The event is targeted at and will actively engage with critical illness survivors, family members, social scientists, health care professionals, patient representative groups, policy makers and the wider public.

The event is free, open to the public but requires booking. Please follow the link below to book a place.
