This MSc has developed from the successful one year CPD programme Making Integration Work, which has run for two years and involved 24 students from all over Scotland working on a variety of integration projects.

Introduction
We have extended Making Integration Work to an MSc because of student demand, and also because we realised that there was more to integrated service improvement than we could teach in a one-year programme.
The Programme is designed as a two year part time programme towards an MSc award, but students can complete the programme in three years. We will also try and help students adapt their progress to suit their circumstances and exit and re-enter the Programme at various stages. Accredited Prior Learning is recognised.
Who should apply?
This Post Graduate Programme is aimed at senior practitioners, operational and middle managers of health, social and voluntary services. Evidence of degree level qualifications and/or equivalent work experience is necessary.
What will they learn?
On successful completion of the programme the participants will be able to understand:
- 'Integration': relationships between theory, rhetoric and reality of integration
- Knowledge: how individuals and organisations learn
- Use of information: research and analytical skills needed for service improvement
- Tools of service development: Quality Improvement Tools and how to use them for maximum effectiveness in development of complex health and social care services
- Project Planning in a multi-agency environment: Principles and practice in project management.
Applications:
- Improved skills in addressing local complexities of 'integration'
- Improved practical application of information handling skills
- Improved skills in adapting Quality Improvement Tools to local circumstances
- Tighter project planning and management to design and execute effective projects
How will they learn?
Core courses are delivered in monthly one-day seminars with structured homework tasks in between to consolidate learning and skills. All homework relates to ongoing projects in which the students are engaged and will help progress current work.
