As well as being the ‘entry point’ for professional training and education to become a counsellor, this qualification helps people in related professions such as teaching, nursing or social work to develop their listening skills.
The Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Studies provides an introduction to the theories, skills, attitudes and values required to be an effective listener.
It offers an entry point for professional training and education to become a counsellor or psychotherapist but you can also take this qualification if you would like to develop your listening skills for use in a range of other contexts (e.g. teaching, social work, nursing, management, voluntary sector mental health work).
The programme is validated by COSCA, the professional counselling body for Scotland, so students who successfully complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Studies will also receive a COSCA Certificate in Counselling Skills
