What we do
The aims of Counselling and Psychotherapy and how we achieve those aims are detailed below.
The principal aims of Counselling and Psychotherapy are:
- To provide postgraduate professional training in counselling
- To foster the development of critically reflective skilled practitioners in counselling, psychotherapy and related fields
- To contribute to the knowledge and evidence base of Counselling Studies
- To promote the development of professional, ethical and accessible Counselling and Psychotherapy services
Counselling and Psychotherapy achieves these aims through its core activities:
- The beginners’ level training in the counselling approach: the Postgraduate Certificate in Counselling Studies
- The professional training programmes: the Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, the Master of Counselling, and the Master of Counselling (Interpersonal Dialogue)
- The taught Masters programme: the MSc in Counselling Studies
- The research training programme: the MSc by Research in Counselling Studies
- The higher research degree programme: the PhD/MPhil
- The Continuing Professional Development programme for practitioners in counselling, psychotherapy and related fields
