The First Aid requalification course provides employees who already hold a current First Aid at Work certificate with the opportunity to update that certificate when their certificate expires after three years.
The new certificate is valid for three years and is approved by the Health & Safety Executive.
If you are a qualified first-aider, three years is the maximum amount of time that may elapse between training and requalification.
The course provides detailed training in theoretical and practical aspects of First Aid at work, in order to enable employees to manage a person or persons becoming suddenly ill or suffering injury at work.
The curriculum of the Basic First Aid Course is covered and includes any update.
Two days duration, 09:00 - 17:00, with a half-hour test during the afternoon of the second day, which includes oral and practical assessment of First Aid techniques and principles.
All current First Aiders who have been trained by the University of Edinburgh will automatically be offered a place on a First Aid requalification course before their current First Aid certificate expires.
The Training and Audit Unit will get in touch with all First Aiders from 3 months prior to their certificate expiry date to offer them a place on a re-qualification course.
There is no charge to attend this course for University of Edinburgh staff members, however, there is a £50.00 charge for non-attendance/late cancellation.
Any new employees who hold a Health and Safety Executive approved First Aid at Work certificate should contact the Training and Audit Unit to be added as a registered First Aider.
This course can be run for external clients by request.
If you think you may have been missed out, please get in touch with the Training and Audit Unit.
