Introduction to the Health and Safety Department

Welcome to the Health and Safety Departments website, we hope you will find everything you need on our website.

Below is a useful introductory video to the Health and Safety Department and some basic health and safety guidance. A detailed induction video session is available as part of staff induction on our 'Health and safety induction' page, which outlines health and safety at the University and the role of the Health and Safety Department .

All of the Health and Safety Department can be contacted via MS Teams or by email, please note that each unit has different working hours and hybrid work patterns.  If you are unsure who to contact, please email health.safety@ed.ac.uk and your query will be directed to the most suitable member of staff.

Health and safety training provided for staff and students by the Health and Safety Department. Training available includes face to face training on first aid, biological, fire and radiation safety, as well as online training packages.
