What we do
We seek to tackle global environmental challenges through teaching, research and outreach.
We are doing this by:
- building a vibrant global community of talented people at the forefront of addressing issues arising from environmental change
- inspiring the next generation of environmentalists engaged in academia, industry, civil society or policy making arenas
- responding to the changing demands of our students and their aspirations to combat environment problems
- developing collegiality across the University and beyond
- supporting an alumni network that builds lifelong connections and creates internship and employment opportunities for students and graduates
- working collectively - our aims cannot be achieved in isolation
Postgraduate study
For postgraduate students, we will:
- facilitate access to training in Environment and Society
- establish need for and facilitate development of for new courses and programmes
- contribute to the marketing and publicising of new and existing courses and programmes
- facilitate innovative modes of course delivery and assessment, including online distance learning
- enhance the learning experience, alongside the other global academies, through seminars, internships and facilities
- create a doctoral school of PhD students engaged in Environment and Society research
