As the demand for sound evidence of ecosystem services increases, both policy makers and businesses are looking for graduates able to translate complex science into policy and business opportunities.
Recent work such as the Stern Review into the economics of climate change, the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, and the UK National Ecosystem Assessment have highlighted the importance of ecosystem services, and brought it into the mainstream of policy development. Businesses are now building ecosystem services into their core strategies and business models.
Here in Edinburgh, we have a high concentration of businesses and other organisations working in Ecosystem Services. We draw upon these links to make sure that the Ecosystem Services MSc provides you with the skills and contacts you need to develop your career.
To create strong links between our graduates and prospective employers we:
- Organise an Ecosystem Services careers fair in February each year
- Invite guest lectures from leading public and private sector organisations to contribute to the core courses
- Support students to conduct their dissertation in partnership with an external organisation
