Application form
Your application should be submitted online. When you complete the online form you will have the opportunity to upload the following supporting documents:
- two academic references, both supplied with the Referee Guidance Note
- copies of transcripts and certificates of your academic and/or professional qualifications (please supply official translations if these are in a language other than English)
- evidence of English language proficiency (if English is not your first language), for example an IELTS or TOEFL certificate
- research proposal/statement
Research proposal
As part of the application process, all candidates must submit a research proposal. This should be no longer than two sides of A4, and should give a brief but clear description of:
- the proposed research topic and its aims
- the relevance of the proposed research to current work
- the proposed methodology
- the probable resource requirements of the project (indication only)
- why this topic is of interest to you in terms of your experience to date
We welcome proposals on a topic you have devised yourself, on research relating to one of our specialist research themes or research on one of our pre-specified topics.
You may feel that you would like to discuss the topic with a probable prospective supervisor. You can find more information on staff and their research interests here:
