Overview

A number of payment methods are available to students depending upon your payment option.

Foreign Currency Payments

Sterling remains the legal currency in Scotland therfore payment to the University must be in sterling. To help with non-sterling transactions the University provides payment services offering competitive exchange rates guaranteed at the time of transaction. The payments sent using these services are then given to the University in sterling.

Cash Payments

Cash payments greater than £100 cannot be accepted and we strongly advise, for security reasons, that a different payment method is used regardless of amount.

Your Student Fees Account

Your student fees account with Finance will be set up once your unconditional offer has been accepted and confirmed. You will then be able to view a statement of your account on the Finance Channel in the MyEd portal under MyStuff.

Any payments made will either be shown in the 'Unallocated Transactions' section at the end of the account (you may need to scroll down to view this) or in the 'Payments Made/Credits' column in 'My Invoices'.

The student number (UUN) should be given as the reference on any payment made. Failure to do this may delay the correct identification of funds received, and hence your matriculation.

Payments received and identified will be allocated to your tuition fee account normally within two workings days except during peak times such as the main registration period in September.

Payments are notified to the University in different timescales depending on the payment method used. These range from immediate notification to a few weeks. The transfer of cleared funds from the payer normally takes place a few days after the payment has been notified.

Guidelines showing normal timescales for each payment method are provided for information but are not guaranteed.

University Username

The UUN can be used as the login name or account name for services which that person is authorised to use. The form of UUN for undergraduate and postgraduate students is a lower case letter "s" followed by their matriculation number, e.g. s0212345.

The UUN is used for services like accounts in open-access labs and the Student Mail Service.
