About us
We are justifiably proud of the quality and diversity of the University's research and teaching in Film, Performance and Media Arts, much of it interdisciplinary. We bring these fields together by providing a focus for existing and new activities.
Our key aims are to:
- foster synergies and collaborations between staff and students working in/on screen media, lens media, performance, digital and audio-visual media, literature and film/text and image
- provide a space for considerations of emerging media, media convergence, new forms of critical media practice, new media roles, emerging audiences, regulatory changes and production processes encouraged by today’s increasingly media savvy generation
- foster the rich development of theory and criticism in proximity to practice and application
- offer information to potential students and external collaborators interested these areas
- support and promote research and teaching in film, performance and media arts both within the University, and through collaboration with Edinburgh College of Art
