What if I have special requirements?

Furniture supplied is in accordance with current occupational health guidelines, and best practice. Advice is available on a variety of furniture and equipment related issues on the Occupational Health website.

Setting up and adjusting your task chair

When using a swivel base task chair at a workstation, adjust the chair so that you are always sitting as comfortable as possible. Refer to chair operating instructions (attached to new chairs). If you require assistance, contact us, providing make and model of chair in question. Appropriate help will be provided.

Take time to familiarise yourself with the various levers and adjustments that can be made. Task chairs have a lever to adjust the seat height. Ensure your feet sit flat on the ground or foot rest, and your eyes are level with the top of the computer screen.

When changing activities you may need to adjust your chair. Please refer to the Occupational Health leaflet on how to sit correctly when using a PC, called Are You Keying Comfortably:

In the first instance, you should discuss your requirements with your director of studies/supervisor. Thereafter, your tutor should contact us where we will be happy to help.
