Hazardous waste (£)
This section defines what hazardous waste is and how to dispose of each type.
In Scotland, hazardous waste is known as special waste. This term refers to waste which has properties that can be harmful to human health or the environment.
Commonly produced hazardous waste types include:
- Asbestos
- Chemical waste
- Fluorescent light tubes
- Lead acid batteries
- Solvents
- Pesticides
- CRT monitors and TVs
- Refrigerated equipment i.e. fridges, freezers, centrifuges
