Changes from July 2013
ELTC will be changing the courses which we offer from summer 2013.
Our core open course will be Year-round English for Academic Purposes (EAP) running from September to June. This replaces Foundation Academic English and is designed for students who will be going on to study at a UK University or students who would benefit from studying English in an academic context. We are retaining a full range of afternoon options, including IELTS preparation, Business, Legal and Medical English as well as options in aspects of British culture (numbers permitting).
We are also intending to offer new short intensive Business, Legal and Medical English year round as well as a number of new Teacher Education courses in the near future. These courses are currently under development.
This summer, we are expecting an increase in the number of students studying on our summer pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses. These courses are for students continuing to the University of Edinburgh. We are continuing to run our summer courses in Business, Legal and Medical English as well as a variety of Teacher Education courses. Please see the relevant web pages for more information.

ELTC has moved!
ELTC moved in 2012 to refurbished premises at Paterson's Land. Staff and students are delighted with our new facilities on the Moray House School of Education campus.
Prestigious Award
ELTC is delighted to announce that Tony Lynch has been awarded a personal Chair at the University of Edinburgh. Tony’s new title is Professor of Student Learning (English for Academic Purposes).
Tony is the longest serving member of staff at ELTC, having worked here since 1980. He teaches and directs courses in English for Academic Purposes and supervises PhD students. His main interests are classroom-related research, especially in areas of listening comprehension and task-based interaction.
In recognition of his significant contribution to research, numerous publications and international reputation, Tony was awarded this personal Chair on 1 August 2011. This is the first and only Professorship in this area in the UK and as such is of considerable importance to ELTC.
