Arrival in Edinburgh
What you need to do on arrival
ELTC does not provide transfers, therefore on arrival in Edinburgh you are responsible for getting to your accommodation.
Travelling from Edinburgh Airport
Edinburgh airport is located approximately 14km west of the city centre. Students can travel from the airport by:
- Taxi to English Language Teaching Centre/accommodation - 25 minute journey - approximately GBP 25.00 for a single journey. The taxi rank is signposted from the terminal building.
- Airlink airport bus to city centre - 25 minute journey - GBP 3.50 single, GBP 6.00 return. The departure point for the airport bus is directly outside the Arrivals Terminal. It leaves every 15 minutes for Waverley Bridge in the city centre.
Travelling from Waverley Station, Edinburgh
Waverley station is located 1km from our main campuses. Students should take a taxi to travel from the station to accommodation. The taxi rank is located in the station concourse.
Travelling from Edinburgh Bus Station
The bus station is located in the centre of Edinburgh and is 1.5km from our main campuses. Students should take a taxi to travel from the bus station to accommodation. The nearest taxi rank is in North St Andrew Street.
A typical first day
Once you have registered for a course, you will receive an information pack from us which contains details of where to go and what time you should arrive on your first day of class. Please make sure you read and follow these instructions to avoid arriving late. If you require further assistance, please contact us.
On your first day it is likely that you will sit a short test so we can place you in the most suitable class for your level. You will meet your new class mates and usually go on a complimentary coach tour of Edinburgh. Classes start in the afternoon.
