ISPEHS was involved in all aspects of Glasgow 2014 including Sport science support for competitors, event management, coaching and encouraging physical activity as part of the Glasgow 2014 legacy.
The Institute for Sport, Physical Education and Health Sciences (ISPEHS) was formed in August 2010 from the Department of Physical Education, Sport and Leisure Studies within the School of Education.
The Institute draws together significant expertise in sport-related studies and is concerned with all levels of education and all forms of research and knowledge exchange that inform and enhance physical education, physical activity, health and well-being; sport and recreation development, coaching, policy and management; and sport and exercise science.
This Institute is the UK's largest provider of initial teacher education in physical education and plays the key role in developing the physical education school curriculum within Scotland.
