Moray House School of Education and Sport

Career opportunities

This programme is ideal for those who wish to work in sport psychology and related areas. These include occupational or business psychology, executive coaching, team building, outdoor management and adventurous training.

There’s been a huge increase in demand for sport psychology services in the UK since the 1990s. The number of people accredited as sports psychologists by the British Association of Sport and Exercise Sciences (BASES) doubled in one five-year period.

The same period saw the creation of the Sport and Exercise Division of the British Psychological Society (BPS). BPS now recognises this division as a distinct professional area with its own training and qualification requirements.

We’ve also seen a growing demand for other services related to psychology due to a greater public understanding of its role in boosting performance.

Our staff actively consult with high-level sport performers up to Olympic and World standards. They also draw on their experience of using psychology in business, performing arts, military and outdoor education settings.

Staff hold academic as well as professional qualifications with one or both recognised professional bodies for psychologists.
