The MSc/Diploma Educational Research programme offers advanced level training in educational research.
Our programme is multidisciplinary and this is reflected in the variety of research approaches and methods we teach. On completion of the programme, students will be able to critically evaluate educational research evidence and will have gained knowledge and experience to conduct rigorous research in education and allied social subjects.
Students are also encouraged to take part in our School postgraduate community through invitation to attend seminars organised by our PhD students and other graduate students’ events.
Our programme offers a friendly and supportive environment, committed tutors who have established experience in teaching and research, and access to excellent library, computing and study facilities both in the Moray House School of Education and more widely across the University.
The aims of the programme are:
The programme can be taken either as a free-standing degree, or as the first year of doctoral study (1+3 years).
This programme is recognised for Research Training (RT) by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and funding can be sought from the ESRC for those who would like to continue studying for a PhD. ESRC studentships are available to UK students (to cover both fees and subsistence costs) and to EU students (to cover fees only).
