Undergraduate admission process

The admission process for undergraduates is administered by the Undergraduate Admission Office, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, 55 George Square:

This site contains information relating to selection processes specific to those wishing to study for an initial teaching qualification, i.e. PGDE (Primary), PGDE (Secondary), MA Primary; MA Physical Education.

All the above programmes must be acceptable to the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), and it is a requirement that our programmes are accredited by the GTCS. The GTCS accreditation dates are as follows:

  • PGDE Primary: 23 April 2013
  • PGDE Secondary: 23 April 2013
  • MA Primary Education (6 programmes): 28 August 2013
  • MA Physical Education: 28 August 2013

Admission to the above programmes is subject to General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) guidelines (again please see the GTCS website), regarding child protection and police checks. Guidance from the GTCS requires the University to carry out these checks prior to students being enrolled on the course. The College Admissions office will send you details of the procedures and forms for completion when you have received an offer of a place.

For PGDE students: Guidance on the completion of PVG scheme application form is available below in PDF format. And the University Policy Statement on the Secure Storage of PVG Data can be found through the third link listed below.
