Details of the admission process for our undergraduate degrees.

UCAS, GTTR or UG Admissions Office

Admission to most undergraduate degrees at Moray House School of Education, in common with the rest of the University of Edinburgh, is via the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).

The PGDE admission system is operated by the Graduate Teacher Training Registry (GTTR), and other undergraduate and initial training programmes can be entered by direct application to the Undergrauate Admissions Office. Admission to study for an initial teaching qualification has some specific requirements.

Undergraduate admission process

The admission process for undergraduates is administered by the Undergraduate Admission Office, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, 55 George Square:

This site contains information relating to selection processes specific to those wishing to study for an initial teaching qualification, i.e. PGDE (Primary), PGDE (Secondary), BEd Primary; BEd Physical Education, BEd Design and Technology.

All the above programmes must be acceptable to the General Teaching Council for Scotland, and it is a requirement that our programmes are Accredited by the GTC, (Scotland). Our programmes were re-accredited in April 2004.

Admission to the above courses is subject to General Teaching Council for Scotland guidelines (again please see the GTC (Scotland) website, regarding child protection and police checks. Guidance from the GTC requires the University to carry out these checks prior to students being enrolled on the course. The College Admissions office will send you details of the procedures and forms for completion when you have received an offer of a place.

The 'Guidance for Completion of PVG Scheme Application Form' and the 'University Policy Statement on the Secure Storage' are available below as PDFs.
