What's the point of mixing methods? Being clear about what we do before we do it (for a change).Monday 20 February 2012, 12pm - 1pmPatersons Land G1
Keynote lecture by Prof Ian Greener author of 'Designing social research': In the session Ian will talk about the positives and negatives of mixed-methods research, arguing that we need to be aware of the hidden assumptions methods often smuggle in with their practices in order to work what the consequences of doing them together might be. He suggests that ideally, it's best to have thought these issues through before conducting research - at least to know whether you are aiming to triangulate or to try and do something more radical.
