Many of our graduates go on to work as contemporary artists within their fields, often holding a mixture of residencies, commissions and freelance work. A number have had the opportunity to develop their careers through prestigious international awards.
There is a growing community of independent artists based in Scotland who are exhibiting internationally. Others will elect to pursue a career in art and culture-related sectors.
Ruth won the East International in 2006 and received the first Jerwood Artangel Open Commission in 2007. She currently works as an artist and occasional visiting lecturer to the College.
My time spent at Edinburgh College of Art was interesting, sometimes challenging, but above all hugely enjoyable. The friendships made whilst studying there have proved to be a lasting and valuable support-network of artists with whom I continue to be in close contact. The freedom allowed by the course is definitely something which continues to inform my practice today
