Francis Bacon: Images of Power
New Fellowship announced, awarded to Martin Hammer in the department of History of Art.
Martin Hammer has been awarded a Paul Mellon Senior Fellowship to spend the academic year 2010-11 researching and writing a book on the painter Francis Bacon, with particular reference to his extensive and highly distinctive use of Nazi propaganda photography as a springboard for his paintings, beginning during the war years and extending through till at least the early 1960s.
Provisional title - Francis Bacon: Images of Power.
