Associated Staff Room 308, Alison House, Nicolson SquareI was born in Galway on the west coast of Ireland, and studied English and Philosophy in the same town for my undergraduate degree. I studied for my Master's degree in Popular Literature at Trinity College, Dublin and there I became interested in crossovers between literature and music.
My thesis is to draw a cultural history from literature and music which shares a common sensibility - it extends from Movement realist fiction and so-called 'Angry Young Men' drama into 1980s post-punk. Because of the dual nature of my PhD, I am supervised in both Music and English.
