Students and staff are encouraged to use ARTstor, and online, not-for-profit image database. This page provides information about the resource and how to use it.
ARTstor is a non-profit initiative, founded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, with a mission to use digital technology to enhance scholarship, teaching, and learning in the arts and associated fields.
The database gives access to hundreds of thousands of images in the areas of fine arts, crafts, architecture, photography, design and more.
The resource also has online image organisation capabilities for users, and a presentation tool that can be used both on and offline.
The database can be accessed both from within and outside of the University of Edinburgh network. The first time you wish to sign in and create an account, however, you must be on a university networked computer.
Staff and students are required to use their university emails in order to sign up for the database.
