Why Edinburgh?

Edinburgh is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, with a University that has a thriving research culture.

Edinburgh is one of the chief cultural centres of Europe, most noticeably in the summer when the city is overrun with the International Edinburgh Festival and the sprawling, energetic Fringe Festival.

Throughout the year, the city hosts innumerable concerts, art exhibitions, installations, plays and talks across its plentiful venues.

For many years the University has been a world leader in the development of sophisticated innovations in computing and electronics, with close proximity to spinoff-companies, including media companies, computer games developers and animators. As the quintessential Enlightenment City, home to David Hume (1711-1776), it has always been a place for great thinkers. As such it provides a fascinating laboratory for the study of digital media and culture.
